Singer Brijesh Shandilya debuts in Tamil
Uttar Pradesh-based singer Brijesh Shandilya, who rose to fame with the song Banno in Madhavan-Kangana starrer Tanu Weds Manu, will be making his debut in Tamil with AR Murugadoss’ Spyder in the music composed by Harris Jayaraj.
Sharing details about the song, an excited Brijesh says, “I had sung a song in Telugu film Sarrainodu last year and lyricist Ramajogayya Sastry, who wrote the lyrics for the film recommended me to Harris Jayaraj. Later, when Harris contacted me, he spoke highly of my voice. He appreciated my talent and added that my voice would be perfect for the song. I rendered the Mochakotta song in both Tamil and Telugu.”
For Brijesh, learning the Tamil and Telugu slang wasn’t a difficult task. “I used to dub in other languages, and back then I yearned to venture into playback singing. When I got the opportunity in 2015, I was overwhelmed. I sort of managed the language and finished the recording.”
The singer has words of appreciation for Mahesh Babu and Harris. “Mahesh Babu is a gem of a person and he liked the song. Harris is one of my favourite composers, apart from AR Rahman and Keeravani. He is so kind and has an undying passion for music,” he concludes. Brijesh, who has a special affinity towards the South, wishes to sing more songs in Tamil and Telugu.
