Harikrishna is attempting Aaraam Vettrumai, a film on the lines of Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto. Ajay and Gopika play the leads. The first look poster looks like an exact replica of Apocalypto.
Says Hari, “We did extensive research on the subject before commencing the shoot. We also needed references for the looks of the characters and the native language they speak. Set about 900 years ago, it depicts the life and journey of three different south Asian Adivasis (tribes), who lived in different mountainous regions. They did not have any names and any particular dialect.”
On the hardships encountered while shooting, he said, “We had to scout for forests, which are totally devoid of today’s scientific developments like telephone, electric and TV cables. We zeroed down on forest areas of Dharmapuri, Salem, Arur and Athirapalli. There are no motorable roads and we had to carry all the heavy equipment on our shoulders and walk up the hill for several kilometres to reach the location.”
