Saalai team goes to Kashmir
Of late, Kashmir seems to be a favorite location for filmmakers. A few months back, Vikram Prabhu shot a long schedule for his upcoming flick Wagah — and now Antony Charles who got critical acclaim for his previous venture Azhagu Kutti Chellam, has set his new film Saalai, in the backdrop of Kashmir.
Vishwa, who debuted with Eppadi Manasukkul Vandhaai, plays the male lead and Krisha, who essayed a vital character in Charles’ earlier movie, has been elevated to a heroine in this film. The entire team has returned to the city after completing a rigorous 45-day schedule amidst heavy snowfall in the valley.
“Normally, filmmakers choose locales with snowfall for song sequences so that it would enhance the scenes with its natural exotic views. But for my film Saalai, snow plays a key role in the story and it was imperative for me to shoot there.
Though one can enjoy the scenic beauty of Kashmir as a holiday spot, working in the freezing temperature was literally hard and sometimes threatening! My team was frightened and was much relieved when we completed the shoot. At the end of the day, everything vanished when we saw the output and the final product. No doubts, it will be a visual treat,” Charles asserts. While Balamurugan is the cinematographer, Ved Shankar is composing the tracks.
