Ajay Gnanamuthu, who gave the hit movie, Demonte Colony, is gearing up for the release of his next Tamil-Telugu bilingual titled, Imaikaa Nodigal, which has Nayanthara playing the central character. Atharvaa, Raashi Khanna and Anurag Kashyap play the other lead roles.
Talking about Nayan’s role, Ajay says, “She will be seen as Atharvaa’s sister in the film. Initially, I was apprehensive whether she would say yes to my script. When I narrated it, she was very impressed and gave her nod immediately.”
The director claims that he has given an image makeover to Nayan — “We changed her hair style and gave her a slick look, as she plays a CBI officer from Bengaluru. There are no action scenes for her. She has given a really intense performance.”
Ajay confirms that Vijay Sethupathi has an interesting cameo in the film. “The relationship between Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi is a well-kept secret by our team. It will be a surprise. Sethupathi’s character is pivotal to the story,” he quips.
Atharvaa will be seen as a doctor from Chennai and Raashi Khanna plays his love interest. Revealing how Anurag Kashyap was brought on board, Ajay says, “Initially, director Gautham Vasudev Menon was supposed to do the villain’s role. Due to his other commitments, he could not allocate dates for us. Then we thought of Anurag, who played the baddie in AR Murugadoss’ Akira. Since we felt that he was apt for the story, we roped him in.”
The crime thriller is about a series of six murders (of people from affluent families), which are executed in the same fashion. The reason behind these murders forms the crux of the movie.
