A film dedicated to arrears students'!
Adhi Maedhavigal, directed by Ranjith Manikandan, a former assistant of Bhagyaraj and JD Jerry, is a movie that is dedicated to all ‘arrears students’. The film features Suresh Ravi, who did Mo earlier, and Ishaara Nair of Sathuranga Vettai fame, as the lead pair.
Talking to DC, Ranjith says, “Suresh and I are friends and both of us completed engineering. My interest was on filmmaking and Suresh was keen on acting. I did a script Maithaana Veethi and created a trailer with Suresh in it. We met several producers for a chance, but in vain. Later, inspired from our own real-life experiences in college, we did the Adhi Maedhavigal teaser, and instantly got a producer — Malcom — who was ready to bankroll it.”
The film focuses on the lead pair, who are engineering students, but there’s no romance of any sort in the film and hence no duets, reveals Ranjith — “They are just friends and it’s their journey through college and their life beyond the campus. There’s a huge message in the film.” He also asserts that the movie is not on our educational system or capitation fee, etc.
