A film about middle benchers!
At the promo event of journalist- turned-filmmaker Gnanavel’s debut venture, Koottathil Orutthan, veteran actor Sivakumar revealed that he never expected his son Suriya to touch this height in the film industry. “Since I was not educated, I wanted Suriya to get a degree at least. After completing B.Com, he joined a company in Ambattur as an accountant and would travel from Sholinganallur to Ambattur daily for work. For six months, no one knew that he was my son! Suriya resigned when they got to know about it. Later, when he joined films, I had no clue that he would become a huge star. It is his sheer hard work which has brought him laurels. Similarly, Gnanavel came to interview me when he was a reporter. Over a period, he became one of our family members and is now a trustee at the Agaram Foundation. I am happy that he is wielding the megaphone for Koottathil Orutthan with his perseverance and hard work,” said Sivakumar amidst applause.
Gnanavel on his part, asserted, “The storyline of the movie was inspired from Karthi’s words when I interviewed him for my magazine.” Karthi on a lighter vein, also said “I was born as the second child in my family. My mom always pampers Suriya, while my sister Brindha is appa’s pet. Usually, no one bothers much over the middle-born, like me! The film’s plot revolves around the middle bench students who according to me have excelled and achieved.”
