Vishal hints at contesting in bypoll
August 29 marked triple celebrations for actor Vishal! It was his birthday. His film Irumbu Thirai directed by Mithran touched the 100-day mark and the actor launched a flag which has Mother Tresa on one side and former president Abdul Kalam on the other with Vishal’s thumbs up picture in the middle for his fans association, which has been rechristened as Makkal Nala Iyakkam.
Even as he began his speech after distributing the shields, a few fans hailed him as ‘Varugaala Mudhalvare, Vaazhga’ (we welcome our future Chief Minister). Slamming them Vishal said, “Do you think CM post is like a ‘Class monitor’ job? Why jump and aim at the topmost thing? It is not a must to become a politician to do good things. Anyone who does a good deed individually is a CM in Tamil Nadu. Irrespective of whether I will be a full-fledged politician or not, I am always behind you all (pointing the public).”
When queried if he would contest in Thiruparankundram bye-elections, he hinted with a smile, “It is yet to be announced. And Madurai being my place (forte), let’s see how it goes.”
“My first salary in the film industry was Rs 100 which I received from my guru Arjun sir while assisting him in direction. Irumbu Thirai’s huge success was solely attributed to a man named Arjun. His screen presence and characterisation was such it pulled off 100 days.”
There was something special about the occasion, where Vishal as usual didn’t want any bouquets to be delivered as gift. Instead, the money was used as a contribution towards the education of two girl children - Keerthana and Aishwarya.
He continued, “It’s not just me, but everyone has been doing good towards the society. Samantha has done really big things beyond our imaginations and so are the others here.”
