Suriya is my real ‘jackpot’ in life. He not only advocates women empowerment, but also sets an example in real life by being best of both the worlds — an actor and dutiful father at home. Besides supporting me in all my endeavours, he does a lot of work at home when I am away for shoots. He takes care of Dev and Diya’s day to day activities, including dropping them at school and taking them for outing to films etc,” Jyotika remarked at the promo meet of her upcoming flick Jackpot directed by Kalyan.
Speaking about the film involving a lot of daredevil stunts she performed without a body double, she said, “This is a new story and I have never acted in a script like this before. It involved shocking actions and expressions. Usually, these kinds of scripts are written for action heroes. But Kalyan has written
Jackpot for us — me and Revathy ma’m — and he was confident of getting the work done from us. He never doubted whether I, a mother of two kids, would be able to do them. The faith he had in me made me do all this. There were real effect shots, jumping from atop a bridge, 360 degrees turns, performing silambam in rain etc. Thanks to my hubby dearest who presented me an ‘action kit’ before I actually joined the shoot. It had harness, shoulder pads, guard and other such stuff.
He told me ‘from now on, you will need this. This is from me to you. Keep it.’ This was a big inspiration for me.
To get an action kit from an action hero felt great. He is my biggest strength”.
Jo thanked Kalyan for giving her a role that is equal to that of ace Revathy. “I respect Revathy ma’m a lot and am a huge fan of hers. Be it in stature or experience, I am not even a quarter of her. So, sharing screen space with her in an equivalent role was a big moment for me.”
She goes on to add, “I have always observed that when people refer to a heroine, they say that she is a heroine who has acted with Sivaji sir, MGR sir or she has worked with four superstars or with Ajith, Vijay and Suriya. But I will proudly say that I have worked with the top actresses from the past like Revathy, Uravshi, Bhanupriya, Saranya, and Sachchu. I am collaborating with Sowcar Janaki amma in my next film.”
Suriya said, “I consider my wife Jyotika to be my jackpot. She is a person who gives her 100 per cent to any task that she undertakes. When I saw some of her action sequences, I wondered how she had so nonchalantly managed to pull it off. She learnt the martial art of silambam for a period of six months. In fact, The movie bankrolled by 2D Entertainment has Vishal Chandrashekar composing the music. Sivakumar, Rajshekar Pandian, Devadarshini, costume designer Poornima, Brindha, Arunraja Kamaraj, Sachchu and Sakthivel were among those present at the audio launch.
