Vivek-Mervin thrilled to work with Prabhudheva
Composer duo Vivek and Mervin earned a name for themselves in the industry with their projects Vadacurry, Pugazh and the recently-released Dora. Now, the duo is scoring the tunes for Prabhudheva and Hansika starrer Gulebakavali, helmed by director S Kalyan.
Speaking to DC, Vivek reveals, “Dora gave us a good reach and we were approached for Gulebakavali immediately. One of the prime reasons to do the film was Prabhudheva. Being 90s kids, Mervin and I grew up watching his dancing skills. We also make sure we select those projects in which our music would be enhanced by the actors.”
The dancing legend was taken aback seeing how young these two composers were. “He was so surprised when he met us. He gets involved in composing and was kicked about the two songs we have composed so far. One is a peppy love ballad and other is a hardcore electro folk. Since it is a commercial comedy, it will have a mix of genres and all the four songs would be peppy,” he explains. Recently, the love ballad song was shot in the city in huge sets worth Rs 2 crore. “Johnny master choreographed the routine and seeing the four sets, we were astonished. Mervin has lent voice for the second time after Enga Pora Dora,” he adds. Vivek also adds that working in Gulebakavali is a welcome change for them as they have worked in two horror films (Dora and Trisha’s Mohini) consecutively.
