After the stupendous success of Irudhi Suttru — a film based on boxing that starred Madhavan and Ritika Singh — much is expected from its director, Sudha Kongara. Though she went ahead and helmed the Telugu version of Irudhi Suttru titled Guru, she is yet to finalise the lead role for her next film. It was speculated that Sivakarthikeyan was in talks for her second Tamil film. Producer AM Ratnam, who was supposed to bankroll the project, confirmed the news. However, the talks have now fizzled out and Sudha, in an earlier interview, stated that her film will be based on a real-life incident. Now, rumours are rife that Suriya is in talks with the director for a possible collaboration.
A source in the know reveals, “They have been discussing this script for a while now. Suriya seems interested and if everything falls in place, he will bankroll this film under his home banner, 2D Entertainment. As of now, everything looks positive. We will have to wait and see what happens next.” Suriya is currently busy wrapping up Vignesh Shivan’s Thaana Serndha Kootam, and he will move on to Selvaraghavan’s untitled film produced by SR Prabhu.
