Suseendhran, who has a penchant for sports based themes, is completing his trilogy of sports films with a new one titled Champion, based on football. His debut was with the critically acclaimed Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. VKK was based on poignant real life incidents experienced by Susee’s father who was a kabbadi player. Later the award winning filmmaker did Jeeva, which was about an aspiring cricketer.
Champion, which went on floors on Wednesday, has Roshan, a young guy playing the lead and Vishal’s dad GK Reddy has been roped in for a crucial character. Mrinalini plays the female protagonist.
Others in the cast include Anjathey fame Naren, Jayaprakash, RK Suresh, Harish Uthaman and few more prominent actors. Arrol Corelli is composing music for this film and Sujith Sarang is handling cinematography. National football team player Raman Vijayan has been brought on board as an adviser for the sports themed film.
