Veteran playback singer P. Susheela, who is completing 65 years in the film industry, is being felicitated at a grand function in the city. The Padma Bhushan awardee started her career in 1953 with a Tamil film Pettra Thai and rendered more than 25,000 songs in all Indian languages. The 84-year-old ace singer has also entered the Guinness Book of Records for having sung maximum number of tracks in south Indian languages.

An interesting aspect of Susheela 65 is that Veera Shekar, an avid fan of the singer, is conducting the show through his Laya Media. Veera says he is a devoted fan of Susheela’s mellifluous voice for several years and this is his way of showing his love and respect to the legendary singer. The show is scheduled on May 19 at Chennai University Centenary Hall, with the who’s who of the south film industry attending.
