Story is my life’s reflections, says Jai

The lead protagonist’s traits and habits exactly matched mine in real life.

I was shocked if ace SA Chandrashekar sir kept any hidden camera in my house, because when he narrated the script of Capemari to me, the lead protagonist’s traits and habits exactly matched mine in real life,” quipped actor Jai while talking about his milestone 25th film with the filmmaker.

He goes on to add, “It is an ultra fresh and new among 70 odd films which he directed. Many warned me that SAC sir is very strict and a tough taskmaster. Yes, on the first day of my shoot, I felt it was like a military camp. But a few days later, I thought as if I was shooting for my close buddy Venkat Prabhu’s film. SAC sir was so cool and gave me lot of space while working. I have seen Vijay anna’s punctuality and sincerity while I shared screen space with him in Bhagavathy. Now, having worked with Chandrashekar sir, I realise that Vijay sir’s discipline must have come from his dad only (smiles).”

SAC on his part said, “Capemari has contemporary subject and revolves around IT backdrop. It’s a intense romantic story. People have a wrong perception that it is a sin to talk about sex. As far as I am concerned it is a beautiful thing and I have explored it in an aesthetic manner in Capemari. When I was looking for a simple man who can express it genuinely, I found Jai was the right person. Though I am 76, I could gel with 36 years old Jai. There are two lead ladies namely Athulya and Vaibhavi.”
