Siragu explores life and relationship

Debutant Akshitha, a trained dancer and yoga instructor, is being launched as the heroine.

Mala Manyan, a veteran executive producer, has turned independent producer with the film Siragu. And she is introducing popular lyricist and writer Kutti Revathi as the director of the travel film, which is about relationships. Hari Krishnan of Madras, Kabali and Sandakozhi fame has graduated as a hero. Debutant Akshitha, a trained dancer and yoga instructor, is being launched as the heroine.

Talking about her maiden production venture Mala says, "I am putting in my vast experience and expertise in production into use and commenced this project. It is a sort of crowd funding idea where I am bankrolling the film with a few investors who have come forward to fund it after I made a request on a public forum. With meticulous planning and careful execution, I completed the travel drama Siragu in stipulated time and at a decent budget. It was very challenging, and I am confident of its success."

On how she zeroed down on Kutti Revathi, Mala says, "Producers are always there to make films with big stars. I wanted to focus on those who are lesser known and yet talented to make films in a small budget. Also, with dearth of women directors, I thought of encouraging Kutti Revathi and her script was also fascinating. It also fitted my budget. It’s a journey of two individuals who set out on a travel to explore life and relationship in a different perspective. This story resonates as a musical journey. It starts from Chennai and stretches till Kanyakumari". Raja Bhattacharjee is behind the camera and Arrol Correlli composes the music.
