Powerful Korean films at fest

Will Jang-ho (the little naught student of Sang-jin) overcome the obstacles and fulfil his destiny as a world-class singer?'

Movie buffs will have a treat to watch during the Chennai Korean film festival at Tagore Film Centre. Day 1 to day 3 of the movie festive chain will have a trio of Korean movies of the decade, based on youth problems, natural disasters and the stories of hope and despair, life struggles of middle class and common people, from this evening.

The movie on the first day — My Paparotti (2013) depicts the young chap Sang-jin’s life struggle working as a high-school music teacher, his sudden meeting with a boy which changes his life. A series of incidents in his journey leaves a question at the end — Will Jang-ho (the little naught student of Sang-jin) overcome the obstacles and fulfil his destiny as a world-class singer?’

On the second day, movie lovers will get to watch KUNDO: Age of the Rampant (2014), where the Joseon dynasty is depicted as under threat from numerous natural disasters, poverty, hunger, poor harvest and death with KUNDO, a single entity, fighting against the injustice of the rich nobles.

On Day 3, you will watch the story of a girl Hope’ who faced a fatal sexual harassment by a male stranger during her school going age, and the struggle with death, life, despair and the way her guardian treats her growth in the movie Hope (So-Won).
