High Court judgement in favour of Mersal

Director Atlee's Mersal has been facing a lot of issues before and after the release.

Director Atlee’s Mersal has been facing a lot of issues before and after the release. While the controversy about the content criticising GST and the medical care facilities are starting to fizzle out, advocate Ashvathaman filed a PIL requesting re-censor for the movie. The petition also sought to remove certain dialogues and scenes from the movie.

The PIL was heard yesterday at the High Court and the honourable judge dismissed the case citing the credibility of the PIL. The judge also posed important questions to the petitioner asking him why he never thought of questioning those films, which had smoking and drinking scenes and those that demeans the livelihood of differently-abled people, etc. The judge further added that he wouldn’t instruct the makers to remove the dialogues and scenes and also stated that the revocation of censor certificate will not happen.
