Ten years ago, Nakul and Sunaina became a huge sensation when they came together in the romantic thriller Kadhallil Vizhindhen, a film that had everyone talking about their sizzling on-screen chemistry. Now, they’re all set to reunite in a film called Eriyum Kannadi, the directorial debut of Sachin Dev, an ad film-maker and sound engineer from AR Rahman’s studio.
In an exclusive chat with DC, Sachin says, “This movie is completely different than their last film together. Eriyum Kannadi is an emotional drama and a musical. Nakul plays a character that’s new to Tamil cinema.”
The filmmaker adds that he was keen on getting on board Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is on a high after Pyaar Prema Kadhal, to compose the music. “Music is of great importance in this film, and I wanted Yuvan to handle it. I am also happy that I’ve got Vairamuthu sir, with whom I’ve worked several times in the past, to write the lyrics.”
Eriyum Kannadi features actress Revathi, Manisha Koirala, whom we saw last in Oru Melliya Kodu, and Suresh Menon in pivotal roles. It also marks the Tamil debut of popular Malayalam actress and theatre artiste Aparna Gopinath.
