Is Akshay Kumar’s film remake of Ajith’s Veeram?
Akshay Kumar, who made his Tamil debut with the Rajini starrer 2.O, is already working in a movie titled Laxmmi Bomb, the Hindi remake of Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana 3. On Friday, Akshay Kumar took to his social media handle and released the first look from his upcoming Bachchan Pandey, which is reportedly a remake of the Ajith – Tamannah starrer Veeram directed by Siva.
‘Khiladi’ Kumar is seen in a southern action avatar, sporting black colour silk dhoti, golden chains, and nunchaku in his hand and sacred ashes on his forehead. The film is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, who has collaborated with Akshay on several hits earlier.
It is unclear whether Bachchan Pandey is the remake of Veeram or a fresh film of Akki. There are reports suggesting that Akshay could not take the project because of his prior commitments and that it has landed up with Shah Rukh Khan and the earlier title Land of Lungi will be retained. Even actor Vicky Kaushal of Uri: The Surgical Strike surfaced.
When DC contacted Siva, the director said, “I have given the story rights of Veeram to my producers Vijaya Productions long back. Even I came to know of Akshay sir’s Bachchan Pandey…. But, I have no idea if it is a remake of Veeram.”
We could not reach producer Bharathi Reddy for his comment.
