Fans of Vijay Sethupathi were upbeat when the film Kadaisi Vivasayi with director Manikandan was announced. But it is now revealed that VSP is not playing the lead hero in the film, which revolves around the importance of agriculture. Instead 85-year-old farmer Nallandi from a rural area of Madurai essays the lead, says Manikandan of Kakka Muttai fame. VS had given a blockbuster Aandavan Kattalai with Manikandan.
Kadaisi Vivasayi is a social drama revolving around the lives of farmers and their plight while recalling a forgotten practice. Cinematographer turned filmmaker Manikandan says both Yogi Babu and Vijay Sethupathi essay crucial characters in the film but they are not the lead players. While the former is a mahout in the film, the latter is said to be donning the role of a mentally deranged person.
During a media interaction, Manikandan spoke about the line of the film. The story takes place in a rural area, where all the villagers leave agriculture for good. However, when a series of unpleasant events take place, they go back and meet the only remaining farmer, an 85-year-old man. Isai Gnani Ilaiayaraja composes the music.
