Nandhan Ram: A committed debutant
We have seen the likes of Rajini, Kamal, Karthi, Suriya and Vivek tonsure their heads for real to prepare for their films. Now, debutant Nandhan Ram, son of popular composer Sirpi, has gone hairless for his movie Palli Paruvatthile. The film is based on a real-life incident in director Vasu Dev Baskar’s life.
Vasu says, “When I was a school student in Tanjore, I was active in stage dramas as I dreamt of entering films... but my father did not approve then. Today, leaving my other businesses, I am into films and this is my third venture! Palli... reflects the theme of not forcing children in a particular direction for self-serving reasons.”
Similarly, hero Nandhan says many persuaded him to take up music like his dad; it was his passion for acting that pushed him in front of the camera — “When Vasu sir called for auditions, the first thing he asked me was, ‘Are you ready to go with a clean-shaven head?’ Without any hesitation, I agreed! I have also done a few risky stunts without a dupe. I am blessed to have worked with biggies like KS Ravikumar sir and Urvasi madam.” Venba, a popular child artiste who did films like Kattradhu Tamizh, plays the heroine.
