Uma Riyaz and husband cop up!
Uma Riyaz Khan, known for her roles in Anbe Sivam and Mounaguru, has completed a crime thriller titled Chennai Vidudhi. This film is special for her for two reasons — one, because it is a single shot movie, and the second because she is sharing screen space with her husband, actor Riyaz Khan (both play cops!) Directed by Shebi Chavakad, this film also has Thalaivasal Vijay, Nizhalgal Ravi, Appu Kutty, Livingston and Pandiarajan in important roles.
Speaking to DC, Uma says, “Director Shebi is a friend of my husband’s and when he explained that it will be a single shot film, we couldn’t say no to it. The film is about a murder that happens at a lodge in Chennai. I play a circle inspector, who investigates the issue along with my sub-inspector played by Riyaz. We shot the entire film on a set erected in Kerala, within four days.”
It was a challenging process, discloses the actress. “Since it is a single shot movie, we couldn’t afford to make mistakes. We had experienced actors onboard to make the task easier. Be it a serious scene or a comedy, they gave their best. For now, Chennai Vidudhi will be screened at film festivals and the director will decide the theatrical release later,” she asserts.
