Stories like Pachai Vilakku need to be told: Bharathiraja

Besides wielding the megaphone, Maran also acts as the lead guy in PV, which talks about road safety and praises traffic cops.

“Stories like Pachai Vilakku on the importance of adhering to traffic rules need to be told. Dr. Maran individually has come out with a socially relevant mammoth subject, which is normally made by a government. I was impressed with the way he has narrated a message oriented flick with commercial viability,” ace filmmaker Bharathiraja remarked while talking about the film Pachai Vilakku.

Besides wielding the megaphone, Maran also acts as the lead guy in PV, which talks about road safety and praises traffic cops. Recalling as how he made his protégé Bhagyaraj as the lead hero earlier, Bharathiraja goes on to add, “I always admired Bhagyaraj's unique way of teaching dialogues to actors while he was my assistant. One day I made him the hero of one of my films, but lot of people discouraged me. I told them that he fitted the lead character of a rural teacher and cast him boldly. Today, you know where he is. Similarly, I appreciate Maran's guts and self-confidence to turn a hero for his story.”

Heaping laurels on Devendhiran, the music composer of PV, who composed memorable music for his 1987 film Vedham Pudhithu, Bharathiraja said, “Though Ilayaraja is an undisputed king of music in India, after Raja, I consider Devendhiran's music as the best. I wonder why he could not make it big.”
