The Tamil Film Producers’ Council and FEFSI have been at loggerheads over the wage issues for the employees for quite some time now. After many rounds of talks, TFPC’s president Vishal’s comment on the issue has apparently annoyed the FEFSI members.
A statement released by TFPC read, “Despite our earnest efforts to solve the issue, a few associations attached to FEFSI are arbitrarily causing distress to producers while shooting, thereby incurring loss and mental agony. But FEFSI seems to not bother about it.” It adds, “The attitude of FEFSI irks us and we don’t want to take it anymore. We are here to safeguard producers.”
It further states that FEFSI and workers are not against producers. “We have clearly mentioned that producers should pay the workers based on the wages fixed by the council. In case of any disagreement, the producer can work with people, who accept their terms and conditions.”
Meanwhile, RK Selvamani, who heads FEFSI hits out at Vishal. “We came to know about TFPC’s statement from the media that they have asked the producers to work with people outside FEFSI. Our employees have reduced their salaries upto 40 per cent already. We at FEFSI condemn Vishal’s statement strongly,” RK Selvamani said at a hurriedly -press conference.
