After Gautham Karthik’s Rangoon became a hit, his pending project Sippai, which was almost shelved, is being revived now. Directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Saravanan, Sippai went into cold storage a few years ago.
The movie has Lakshmi Menon and Viba as the female leads while Samuthirakani and MS Bhaskar play supporting roles. While Yuvan Shankar Raja was brought on board for music — the movie, which started with much fanfare, got jinxed due to financial constraints. Now, a reliable source informs us that Sippai, a campus entertainer with a message, has changed hands with a new banner bankrolling it. The source adds, “Saravanan has completed 90 per cent of shooting and only 15 days of work is pending. A song and pre-climax portions are yet to be shot. Thanigaivel of RSSS Pictures has undertaken the project now.”
