Natraj Subramaniam turns singer!

Bollywood cinematographer-turned-hero Natraj Subramaniam aka Natty is the newest entrant in the actor-singer club — he made his singing debut with his upcoming flick Enkita Modhadhey.

The lensman, whose latest outing was the Vijay-starrer Puli says, “Playback singing actually happened all of a sudden. During a break from dubbing for one of the movie’s schedules, I was singing TM Soundarrajan’s Vasantha Mullai Polae quite loudly. My director Ramu Chellappa, former assistant to Pandiraj, told me that I had a different voice and suggested that I sing the song, Life-e Fight-u Dhaan, Okay Right-u Dhaan. I thought he was joking, but when the music director Natarajan Sankaran asked me to come to the recording studio, I realised it was serious! That’s how Yugabharathi penned the number. In fact, Imman listened to it and appreciated my efforts!”

While the song appears as montage shots in the film, Natraj adds the film’s genre is new to Tamil cinema. “Set between ‘87 and ‘89, Enkitta... centres around two individuals who are into painting and erecting hoardings for their matinee idols. Rajaji of Moodar Koodam fame is the other lead. The film loosely deals with friendship, betrayal and so on. Parvathy Nair and Sanchitha Shetty are also a part of the film.” Natty definitely has a reason to celebrate now!
