The award-winning filmmaker Sasi,  known for his realistic portrayal of human emotions in his films, is confident that Pichaikkaran featuring Vijay Antony and Satna Titus will take him into the league of ‘mass’ commercial directors in Tamil cinema. It was Sasi who gave a commercial hit to composer Vijay Antony with his film Dishyum.

Speaking at the promo event of the film, Vijay said, “It was my biggest wish to act under Sasi sir’s direction ever since I turned hero. After listening to the script of Pichaikkaran, I could not control myself and literally cried for sometime.” He added, “To get the realistic feel, I was made to sit among the beggars in the city, at certain vantage points, and beg. Sasi shot it with candid cameras.”

Talking about the film, Sasi said, “Pichaikkaran is not a film on beggars, but a biography of a rich man who turns pauper and is forced to beg, due to circumstances. I thank Vijay Antony for trusting my script. I am sure he will go places.” Sasi is also confident that the film will give him the ‘mass’ director tag.
