Ashmitha turns heroine
Ashmitha, the popular item girl, has been elevated as a heroine in fantasy horror drama Maarahaathipathi where she plays a mohini, an enchantress. A period film set 100 years back, has Rajesh Kanna as the male lead and is directed by Gautham Venkat.
Speaking about his film Gautham tells DC, “’Maarahaathipathi’ means ‘king of death’. The story on 'femme fatale' or mohini is something new to Tamil audience. The hero, who is a do-gooder, suddenly notices certain changes in his body. When he tries to unravel the mystery by reaching out to tantriks, he gets caught with a mohini. How he comes out of his predicament forms the rest.”
Rajesh Kanna has a dual dimensional role of a hero and villain and he has also taken an aghori avatar for an episode in the film. Ashmitha’s role has a lot of bearing, says the director. Imman Annachi, Cheranraj and Lollu Sabha Manohar play the supporting cast.
