Maragatha... is set in three different periods
The hit pair of Aadhi and Nikki Galrani, who teamed up for the first time in Yagavarayinum Naa Kaaka, is back with yet another fantasy-horror comedy, Maragatha Naanayam. The film is set across three different periods — namely 1100, 1992 and 2016!
Adhi says, “The script is the hero in this flick — there are no defined ‘hero’ and ‘heroine’ tropes at all. I have done nine films so far, and right from my debut flick Mirugam — I ensure that I choose films in different genres. Maragatha Naanayam, directed by Saravan, is centered around five characters and I am extremely happy to be part of the film.”
He adds, “Normally, when a director narrates the full script, at some point of time, the energy level would drop. However, when I sat down with Saravan for the story narration, there was never a dull moment. The energy levels were intact until he completed it in two and a half hours’ time!”
Saravan, a former assistant to Ram Kumar of Mundasupatti fame, on his part, says, “The movie is inspired from a real-life incident, which I read in the newspaper a few years back. I have added my imagination to the script. It’s a fiction with comedy being the focus. You won’t find the clichéd hero-heroine roles here. They are part of a gang. Also, ghost portions are relatively less in the flick.”
While Anadharaj, Arunraja Kamaraj, Danny, Ramdoss, and MS Bhaskar appear in the supporting cast, Tollywood actor Brahmanandham has been roped to play a key character. Axess Film Factory is producing the movie, which will be released also in Telugu.
