Abijith Paul has two films in his kitty

Amala Paul's brother is all set to make a mark.

Abijith Paul, elder brother of actress Amala Paul, and naval officer by profession, has decided to focus on the movies till next year. “Though I am passionate about acting, my primary focus will still be towards my career in the navy. I am waiting for my first film to hit the theatres. Let’s see how my career shapes up,” starts Abijith, who has signed two Tamil projects.

When prodded for more details, he shares, “For the first time, I am playing lead roles in these two films — an untitled romantic thriller directed by Selvam, and Thaami, directed by Praveen under the banner, Lava Kusha Cinemas. It’s a horror-suspense thriller. The shooting of these two films will start next month.”

Abi, who has done a cameo in Vijay’s upcoming Devi(l), is excited about it — “Though it is a small role, it is important in the movie. I am happy about the wide appreciation it has received even before the release. All credits to Vijay and Prabhudeva sir!”

When quizzed about the support from his celebrity sister, Abijith shares, “Amala is one among the finest actresses in the industry. I learnt acting by observing her. She has helped me a lot to mould the actor in me. Even my brother-in-law, Vijay, has supported with his valuable advice and acting workshops he had put me through.”

A die-hard fan of actor Ajith, Abijith admires the actor for his work style and his real life persona. He doesn’t mind acting in any languages down south — “I am focusing on doing more movies in south. That said, I am also waiting to set foot in Malayalam.”

The brother-sister duo loves to involve in social initiatives. “The primary reason for me to take up acting as a career is to take our charity work to a higher level. I believe that being in the movie industry, our work would get wider attention. I have a group of friends in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, who are focused towards the upliftment of backward communities and women empowerment in the society,” he sums up.
