Prabhudheva’s comeback film as a director, Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja, was launched with much fanfare a couple of months ago. The project has contemporaries Vishal and Karthi as the protagonists and Sayyeshaa as the leading lady. KRVR, jointly produced by Isari Ganesh and Prabhudheva went on floors on July 10 in Chennai. After completing four days of shoot, the film has now hit a roadblock.
Now, rumour has it that the project has been dropped. However, a source close to the team reveals, “The project is on hold for some time as there are date issues between Karthi and Vishal. The latter will begin shooting for Sandakozhi 2 in August and he will be busy with the release of Thupparivaalan and his sister’s wedding. Karthi, on the other hand, does not have dates in September. So, the makers have decided to rope in two other actors as replacement.”
The pre-production work has been completed and the producers have spent nearly Rs 2 crores on it. Also, Prabhudheva and Harris Jayaraj travelled to London to compose the film, and we hear that they have completed four songs already.
“At this point, we won’t be able to drop the project. Also, the director is keen on wrapping up the KRVR by end of the year so that he can concentrate on his next project in Hindi,” the source adds.
