Sensational folk singer and composer Anthony Daasan has attempted something unique. The playback singer created a buzz by gate-crashing weddings and family celebrations and performing impromptu some of his viral film hits like ‘Sodakku Mela’ (Thaana Serndha Koottam) and ‘Ahaa Kalyanam’ (Petta), and folk pop hits like ‘Yele Karuvaachi’ ‘Maane Maane’ and ‘Kanna Kuzhi Azhagi’ much to the delight and awe of guests present.
Of the unusual initiative of Sony Music, with whom he has signed an exclusive deal, Anthony says, “I am glad to be a part of such a fun initiative that promotes folk music and its musicians. I am accompanied by musicians who play instruments like Thavil, Nadaswaram and Parai from Tanjavur. Hope it creates more awareness towards the authentic folk music of our land.” Ashok Parwani of Sony Music South says they received a tremendous response for their effort from the weddings the artistes performed at.
