I never dreamt of doing a film like Gorilla: Jiiva
Jiiva is one actor who never shies away from experimenting — be it his films or his looks. After Gypsy, where he plays a nomad, the actor has worked with a real chimpanzee in his forthcoming film Gorilla. Giving him company is Shalini Pandey of Arjun Reddy fame.
“Working in Gorilla which is a heist comedy was an unique experience. The film was shot extensively in Thailand as the chimpanzee named 'Kong', which had acted in Hollywood films, had its training at Samut Training Station there. Though a comedy entertainer and political satire, there's a message in the film.”
Jiiva adds, “I want to thank producer Vijay Raghavendra for offering me a film like Gorilla. I have never even dreamt of doing a film like Gorilla and don’t know if I would do so in future. I enjoyed every bit while Don Sandy was giving the script narration. And I worked with equal passion and relished while shooting the entire film. By the end of the journey, Kong became a dear friend of mine.” Veteran Radha Ravi, Satish, Yogi Babu portray key characters in Gorilla, which has Sam CS as the composer.
The makers revealed that they spent about Rs 2 lakhs per day for the Chimp and Rs 50000/- for the trainers. They have also adopted two chimpanzees.
