Not a caste-based movie, says filmmaker
Devaraattam is not a caste film and not about the Thevar community. It is a folk art performed by people of south Tamil Nadu. This movie is about family bond and values, focusing on the brother-sister angle in particular,” said director Muthaiah at the promo meet of his upcoming film.
Devaraattam has Gautham Karthik and Manjima Mohan in the lead. Gautham, who has shed a few kilos, said, “For the first time I have worked in a film with Madurai as the backdrop. I play a lawyer and sporting a new look for the simple guy from rural setup. My dad Karthik loved my looks. But my mom was shocked. The people of Madurai were very friendly and showered lot of love on me and my family. Manjima also essays a lawyer. The romance and brother-sister bond will be highlight of the film.”
All those present on the occasion raved about Gautham’s looks, performance and stated that Devaraattam will be a turning point and the stage is set for him to become a mass hero. Vela Ramamurthy, producer Gnanavel Raja, composer Niwas Prasanna were among those who graced the occasion.
