Madhuraj, a former assistant of ace director Bhagyaraj, is debuting with a film titled Thodraa, which he says, has a quirky subject. Actor/filmmaker Pandiaraj’s son Prithivi has been roped in as the lead hero. New face Veena from the Malayalam industry will be seen romancing Prithivi. And the director is introducing M.S. Kumar as the powerful villain. He is the husband of Jai Chandra, the producer of the film.
Talking to us, Madhu says, “Like how there’s real-estate fraud and land mafia operating, of late, there’s an organised ‘love business’ (who target lovers) where people are paid to separate the lovers. I have witnessed such incidents and weaved my story based on my observations and research. My film is set at the backdrop of Krishnagiri and inspired from two real life incidents, which shook Tamil Nadu few years back.”
On choosing Prithivi, he said, “Even as I wrote the script which demanded someone young with innocent looks, I decided to cast Prithivi in it. He was happy to come on board and started preparing for the intense role right from day one. Like how Kadhal brought out a different dimension of Bharath, Thodraa will project Prithivi in a different light.”
M.S. Kumar, on his part, said that he is not the routine villain in the movie. “I use my brain rather than muscles for my criminal activities. And reaching audience is easy when you essay a menacing baddie than a regular hero. So, I wanted to try my luck this way.”
