Miya George plays a ghost in Rum
After actresses like Hansika, Trisha, Andrea, and Raai Laxmi who turned ugly for their ghost avatar, it’s Miya George’s turn now. The Mollywood import plays a criminology student in the horror flick, Rum with actor Hrishikesh. “I play a criminology student who is a happy-go-lucky girl in Rum. She lives with her dad and younger brother, on whom she showers motherly affection — they are really close-knit,” she says with a grin. Delving further into her ghost avatar, she responds, “That’s a mystery. I do agree it is a horror film, but it’s not a typical ghost film. Director Sai has brought out the fear factor and horror by technically incorporating them in the script. I have a little bit of special makeup, but it’s not ghastly,” she reveals, adding that the film’s highlight is in its making.
When Miya was launched in Amara Kaaviyam, she was hailed as the next big thing in K’town, but hype had died down down. However, the actress says that she is not in a hurry to sign films — “I want to pick projects and work at a relaxed pace. After my first Tamil film, I got busy with Malayalam. Now, I am also doing a Telugu movie. In the film industry, everything works with calculations. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.”
She also rubbishes reports of sharing screen space with Vijay in Bairavaa, and claimed that it was spread by a fake Twitter account. Happy with playing the character of Anjana in Vijay Antony’s Yemen, directed by Jeeva Shankar, she says the role is a meaty one. “When my debut film’s director Jeeva sir called me, I immediately accepted it,” Miya signs off.
