Sivakarthikeyan is a mass hero: Shankar
Filmmaker Shankar unveiled the first look of Sivakarthikeyan-Keerthy starrer Remo. At the event, he said he was impressed by how the crew had launched the teaser in an innovative manner. He added, “This made me think of how I should go about the music launch of Rajinikanth’s 2.0.”
The ace director said that when he watched Rajini Murugan, he felt that Sivakarthikeyan was growing as a mass hero — “I even called up Lingusamy, who produced the film, and shared my thoughts. Had Siva wanted, he could have easily played safe for the next five years, but he chose to be different. Experimenting with films like Remo, where he had to use prosthetic make up to take on the female avatar, is a great thing!”
Shankar was also all praise for Keerthy, calling her a natural performer. Speaking on the occasion, Sivakarthikeyan said, “There were times when Atlee used to tell me that his assistant Bhagyaraj Kannan, was writing a script for me. He had narrated a few scenes, which I felt were hilarious. Though I was apprehensive if audiences would accept me in this avatar. I listened to the script eight times, and Bhagyaraj convinced me after almost a year.”
Quiz him on Keerthy Suresh, he said, “I wanted to avoid repeating Keerthy in Remo after Rajini Murugan — I thought it might pave way for gossip. Even the director thought of casting a new pair. But all said and done, when PC Sreeram sir came on board and suggested that she would be apt, we got her in.”
Before concluding, Siva said earning money was not the only thing he had in mind — “I am getting enough money for my work. But, I want to go to the next level in my career.”
