Court directs Santhanam to appear on June 28

The title was registered with Tamil Nadu Producers Council on March 12.

Chennai: A city court on Friday directed actor Santhanam to appear before the court in connection with a petition which sought to halt the release of an upcoming Tamil film, ‘Thillukku Thuddu’.

When a petition filed by a film financier came up, the Assistant Judge, XIV City Civil Court, directed actor Santhanam and director Rambala to appear before the court on June 28.

The petitioner Mohamed Mastan Sarbuddin of Paper Flight Pictures submitted that they proposed to make a film Aavee Parakka Oru Kathai and entrusted Rambala to direct it. The company paid him Rs 3 lakh as advance. The story discussions took place from November 2013 to June 2015. The company also paid a huge amount to actors Siva and Nanditha to act in the film. The title was registered with Tamil Nadu Producers Council on March 12.

He said “We have spent more than Rs 81 lakh so far to make the film. However, Rambala had not attended the shooting regularly. Meanwhile, we have come to know he was filming the same story under the title, ‘Thillukku Thuttu’ with Santhanam as a lead actor. The film’s audio was released recently. Sarbuddin sought a direction to stop the release of the film.
