Visa issues for Kamal Haasan's unit

The actor's upcoming film Sabash Naidu unit faced some visa problems which delayed the shooting.

Kamal Haasan's hilarious upcoming entertainer, Sabash Naidu that brings him and daughter Shruti Haasan together for the first time, is in visa trouble! The unit was set to leave for the US to shoot for his new Telugu-Tamil-Hindi comedy, directed by TK Rajeev Kumar. But they were denied visas, apparently.

When contacted, Kamal said, “We can’t blame them for being extra-cautious considering the times we’re going through. God knows, America has enough problems to deal with!”

He also added that the problem has now been sorted out now. “There were 40 of us, and some names on the passports raised problems. My own Islamic-sounding name has often caused a minor stir at immigration counters,” laughs the Thoongavanam star, adding, “It’s all sorted out now. We leave two weeks behind schedule finally!”

Sabash Naidu is a trilingual being made in Hindi-Tamil-Telugu, and has been titled Sabash Kundu in Hindi. Kamal is reintroducing his character ‘Balram Naidu’ from the 2008 movie Dasavathaaram as the protagonist in this flick. Popular Telugu comedian Brahmanandam will play Kamal’s sidekick, while Ramya Krishnan plays Kamal’s wife. Akshara Haasan, younger daughter of Kamal, will don the hat of assistant director. Ilaiyaraja has been roped in to compose the music for the project.
