The actor Radha Ravi, known for his provocative speeches laced with contentious comments was at it once again at an event where the teaser of a film starring Nayanthara was released. He made all kinds of wild charges including questioning the character of the leading actress. He not only mocked her but also slut-shamed her with his distasteful comments.
His obscene references did not go down well with many on social media, including Chinmayi Sripaada, who is fighting a legal battle against him with respect to having her removed from dubbing union on the #MeToo Issue. Nayan's boyfriend Vignesh Shivan also lashed out at Radha Ravi on his social media handle through a series of posts.
Even Radha Ravi's family members including his stepsister Radhikaa Sarathkumar and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar slammed him for his derogatory remarks on Nayan. But then Radha had crossed all limits in a personal attack, saying —Paatha udane kumbudravangalayum podalam, paatha udane koopadravangalyum podalam. (There are actresses who can be cast in godly roles as their looks deserve worship, a few other actresses can also play the role who look like they are calling you the moment they see you.)
Radha had ridiculed her personal life as well, saying, “Nayanthara sustains in industry till today despite everything that happened in her personal life. People of Tamil Nadu will forget everything easily. She can act as a ghost in many films as we as goddess Seetha in Telugu movies. Those days, filmmakers will cast only actress K.R Vijaya for such goddess roles, but today anyone can do those roles.
He had also said, “Nayanthara is hailed as Lady Superstar. Someone who spoke earlier even compared her to Puratchi Thalaivar MGR and Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan. They're immortals and it really hurts if you add Nayanthara in the list.” He took a dig at her not attending her own promo meet (though it is well-known that Nayan never attends any promo meet of her films).
The actor asked the producer of the movie to get an agreement signed by the actors to ensure their presence in the promotional activities of the movie. Despite all that Radha Ravi may have said, Nayanthara is enjoying the top slot even after completing 15 years in tinsel town. She has an interesting line-up of films in her kitty including the horror film Airaa where she plays a dual role for the first time and yet another mystery thriller named Kolaiyudhir Kaalam (directed by Chakri Toleti) inspired by American thriller Hush where she essays a deaf mute.
Chinmayi slammed the dubbing union president for slut shaming Nayanthara and questioned why no one had said a word against this, including the film associations like Nadigar Sangam and Producers Council. She tweeted, “Ok. So the Producer's council and the Nadigar Sangam can't take any action in my case because they cannot 'interfere in the functioning of other unions'. But this man is actually abusing a successful female actor on stage. Do take action, if you could? Mucccccchu thanksu”.
In yet another post she reminded, “Been waiting since yesterday for *some* sort of a condemnation from the male actor fraternity in Tamilnadu since yesterday. In this video Radha Ravi, President, TN Dubbing Union openly slut shames a female actor at HER movie's trailer launch. And not a word from anyone. Yet.
If @VigneshShivN says no one will support Nayantara when a male actor slut shames her, I do not know what else to say”.
Nayan's boyfriend and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan in a series of posts has said, “Clueless and helpless cos no one will support or do anything or take any action against that filthy piece of shit coming from a legendary family .. he keeps doing this to seek attention! Brainless ! Sad to see audience laughing& clapping for his filthy comments! None of us.”
“He is a senior artiste. I don't know what to say. I agree, Radha Ravi sir shouldn't have spoken so derogatorily on stage in that place,” producer Madhiyalagan, who had arranged the teaser promo, said.
“None of us had any idea that this event was going to take place for an incomplete film .. the actual producers or directors left the film few years back I guess! Inappropriate event with unnecessary people sitting and knowing not what to speak ! If this is called promoting a movie,” Vignesh Shivan goes on to say.
“Then it's good to stay away from such events which don't have any need but jus to give opportunities like this for jobless people to vomit some senseless , useless stuff on stage ! Anyways no one from Nadigar sangam or any sangam will take any action against him #Sad #state.”
