Sivakarthikeyan is now a comic book hero

Sivakarthikeyan and Ponram are now awaiting the release of their third collaboration, Seema Raja, which is scheduled for September 13.

After SRK’s Ra.One, Prabhas’ Baahubali, Rajinikanth’s Muthu and Gautham Karthik’s Indrajith, the team behind Varuthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam has come out with a comic book based on the film’s lead characters played by Sivakarthikeyan, Sathyaraj, Soori, and Sri Divya. Unlike others who have used such initiatives to promote their movies before their release, director Ponram has released the book five years after his blockbuster film.

Sivakarthikeyan and Ponram are now awaiting the release of their third collaboration, Seema Raja, which is scheduled for September 13. Talking about the project, Ponram says, “I’ve been a huge fan of comic books from when I was a child. When I saw that the comic episodes in the VVS starring Sivakarthikeyan and Soori were a huge hit among kids and teenagers, I decided to convert the screenplay into graphic book visuals that are well-liked by children. I, along with the Seema Raja team, have been working on the storyboard and artwork for the past six months.”

The filmmaker adds that “We are yet to realise the potential fan base that comic books can have. In Hollywood, several movies arise from comic books, and many others are promoted through them.”

Sivakarthikeyan is hugely popular among kids, and the team hopes that people will love the comic book they’ve published. You can pick up a copy at the Book Exhibition in Chennai.
