Vikram denies being arrogant'

Actor responds to allegations that he was disrespectful during Independence Day celebrations in the U.S.

Fans of Chiyaan Vikram were shocked when a report by Prakash M Swamy of the US Tamil Sangam claimed that the actor was being arrogant and throwing his weight around at the 36th India Day Parade organised by the Federation of Indian Associations — New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut on August 21st.

Thousands of Indians celebrated the 70th Independence Day at one of the largest parades outside the country with the iconic Empire State Building being lit up in the Indian tricolour. Vikram was invited as one of the chief guests at the parade, apart from yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Abhishek Bachchan.

Prakash alleged that Vikram was disrespectful to people and was always seen talking on his mobile phone and had a bad attitude. He even compared Vikram with those who earlier attended the parade like AR Rahman, Sarath and Radhikaa Sarath Kumar, who were all down-to-earth — and that they actually wanted to invite Prabhu Deva instead!

Reacting to the controversial report, Vikram’s spokesperson has clarified. “Vikram was invited by the Federation of Indian Associations to the US for the India Day Parade, and not by an individual. The organisers, as well as the public were happy that the event went well, and they are witness to what happened. So, we request you to not give importance to unsolicited reports by any individual,” he said.

The FIA also posted on their official social media outlet, “Federation of Indian Associations is grateful and extremely thankful to Chiyaan Vikram for being a part of the India Day parade. We were shocked to see a recent vituperative social media post by Mr Prakash M Swamy, and we would like to categorically state that nothing in that post is true, but a figment of his imagination.”
