Films are my fillers: Vishakha Singh
The actress who made her film debut with Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya has had only five movies in her eight-year long career. However, with the films she picked, Vishakha Singh has still managed to create a niche for herself.
In Chennai for the release of her next, Vishakha says, “People in India have a set notion about female actors needing to grab every opportunity that comes by. I don’t have to conform to this. I choose to act when I want to. Films are my fillers. In fact, I come to India to do films when work abroad gets too hectic.”
The versatile actor essays the role of a ghost in the upcoming Bayam Oru Payanam. “When I heard the script from director Manisharma, I was on the edge of my seat. I am scared of horror films and I watch them with my eyes closed! The role I played was a liberating one, and it is close to my heart as it has enriched the actor in me,” she quips.
Vishakha, who believes in ghosts, had to sit through an hour for her prosthetic make-up. “First of all, there was no stress to look beautiful. And for the record, you don’t have to rely on looks and can concentrate on acting,” she adds.
What was difficult for her during the shoot? — “The challenging part was screaming my heart out! I am naturally a happy person, and to act possessed was physically taxing.” Vishakha also has her Hindi film Fukrey 2, which will start rolling from November.
