We all know that fans of Ilayathalapathy and Ajith are always at loggerheads — they trade blows on Twitter over trivial issues, although the two stars maintain a cordial relationship.
Memories of a recent Twitter war between fans of both actors are still fresh in our minds; the two groups had fallen to new lows, lashing out against each other using ugly memes, over an alleged remark by an Ajith fan.
With the stench of that incident still hanging foul in the air, here comes a fresh controversy. It was set off by music composer-turned-actor GV Prakash Kumar’s birthday wishes to actor Vijay, where he used the term, ‘The next Superstar of Tamil cinema’.
While Rajinikanth retains the title of Superstar, the title of ‘Next Superstar’ has been a much-debated issue for a while. Though fans of Ajith and Vijay have divided opinions, audiences seldom speak about this, fearing intense arguments from the fans of the other actor.
GV Prakash, who scored music for two of Vijay’s recent films Thalaivaa and Theri, said this on social media, and we quote “Advance happy birthday to The next Supersatr of Tamil cinema undoubtedly..... Ilayathalapathy Vijay. (sic)”
As a result of this, fans of Rajini and Ajith have been hurling insult upon insult on the other actor, and also on GV.
The Trisha Illenna Nayanthara actor’s Twitter is filled with angry memes and videos. One of Rajinikanth’s fans wrote, “Haha what a comedy of today... Dai GV Superstar na athu thalaivar mattumthan avar manatha vangatha da sure.”
Another one wrote, “Kabali 2.0 — Vachirukra title (EIPI) eh thalaivar dialogue dhan! Apdi irundhum Prakash ku lavutta paaru! One and only Superstar Rajinikanth (sic),” while yet another fan went, “Are you mad? Next Super Star? Grow up kid (sic).”
