Tamil cinema gave me identity: Neetu Chandra
Neetu Chandra was most recently spotted in the Oh Sone Sone Super Sonic song in director Hari’s Si 3, featuring Suriya, Anushka and Shruti Haasan in the lead. Now, the actress’ Vaigai Express, which has been lying in the cans for a long time, has hit theatres today.
An excited Neetu shares, “I play a dual-dimensional role in Shaji Kailas’s Vaigai Express and I got to play multiple shades. The director approached me saying that the role is tailor-made for me. It was physically taxing to juggle between the character and looks. But, I enjoyed the process. Tamil cinema is going through a renovation phase and people are looking for content-oriented films. Vaigai Express, which is a murder mystery is definitely one such film.”
When asked if the delay created a gap in her career, she explains, “I wouldn’t call it a gap though. These days, films need to release at the right time. As a national award-winning producer, I understand the difficulties in releasing a movie. I am glad that Vaigai Express is releasing at the right time.” The Aadhi Bagavan actress can’t stop thanking her fans for the trust they have in her. “I am never going to leave the Tamil industry as it gave me my identity. I am still waiting for great scripts. I had to reject a lot of offers as I knew those projects would tarnish my image. I have now signed a big project and the official announcement would be out soon,” she concludes.
