Vishal to don director’s hat

In a major tiff, Mysskin sacked as director and actor takes over.

In a sudden turn of events, actor-producer Vishal and director Mysskin fell out on the sets of Thupparivalan 2 in London and Mysskin has been sent packing from the film with the actor taking the mantle of the director to complete the suspense thriller.

Reports tended to suggest that the Psycho director had opted out of the film midway, but a close production source from Vishal Film Factory reveals that the producer had indeed relieved Mysskin of his duties as director. Neither Vishal nor Mysskin was available for comment on this twist in the tale of the film.
The source went on to say this is considered a blessing in disguise for Vishal as the actor, who started his career as an assistant director, will be realising his dream of wielding the megaphone in Thupparivaalan 2.

Thupparivaalan, which was released in 2017 starring Vishal and Prasanna and directed by Mysskin, was inspired by Sherlock Holmes. The film was critically acclaimed besides becoming a hit. The success of the film propelled its producer Vishal to announce a sequel with the same cast with Mysskin helming the direction.

The trouble reportedly started when all of a sudden Mysskin had demanded a higher salary from Vishal claiming that his earlier film Psycho was a huge hit and also insisted on a bigger budget. Despite few rounds of peace talks, Mysskin was said to be not willing to scale down in his demands, despite Vishal telling him that they have already spent Rs 12.5 crores towards production. Mysskin is also accused of wasting a lot of time during the London schedules.

A unit source says that after a point Vishal, who is also the producer of the film, didn’t want to put the film on hold and took the call of directing the rest of the movie.

Mysskin is also said to have sent a signed letter in which several conditions were laid down. The letter stated that he would be taking the Hindi remake rights of the film and that the producer does not hold any rights. Further, the shooting locations would be decided only by the director and not by the producer and that all communications regarding the project should only be through emails.
