CBFC clarifies regarding Thupparivu 2020

The film was examined by the Board and recommended grant of U' Certificate subject to cuts.

Regional officer of CBFC, Mathialagen, clarifies with respect to an article in DC titled, ‘Censor denied for a Swachh Bharat docu’ that appeared recently. In a letter he has stated, “An application was submitted for Certification of the film titled, Thupparivu 2020 (Tamil) on 20.06.2017.

The film was examined by the Board and recommended grant of ‘U’ Certificate subject to cuts. (Shot No.32 — The dialogue ‘Media media enga oru idea thaadiya thaadiyaamere dhesey bossukki modiya’ which was repeated again was ordered for deletion as it does not convey any message but presents a low taste of an individual.) The same was intimated to the applicant through ecinepramaan on 29.06.2017. The applicant had submitted the revised DVD and on verification of the same, it was found that the Indian National Flag was shown without Ashoka Chakra at four places and the same was intimated to the director for necessary correction.

The team hasn’t submitted the corrected DVD for certification but accuses CBFC of denying certificate for a Swachh Bharat documentary, which is not true.”
