Rakul Preet Singh, who was considered a jinxed actress when she started in Tamil, migrated to Tollywood — and was an instant hit there. The actress’ last release in K’town, Yennamo Yetho, with Gautham Karthik was also an average grosser. Now, the 26-year-old is the front-runner for Suriya’s 36th film, where he teams up with Selvaraghavan known for his offbeat scripts.
Presently, to be precise, Rakul will be back in Tamil with Dheeran Adhigaram Ondru, in which she’s acting alongside Suriya’s brother Karthi — it is directed by Vinod of Sathuranga Vettai fame. SR Prabhu and SR Prakash of Dream Warrior Pictures produce both DAO and Suriya 36. One may notice that with the likes of Hansika, Pranitha etc, the banner has the practice of casting an actress in multiple films produced under their banner — for instance, flicks with both Suriya and Karthi. It looks like the producers get into a two or three-film deal while signing an actress for their banner.
Now, a close source from the production house confirms that Rakul has been approached for Suriya’s next and would soon be brought on board. In an earlier chat, Selva had said that he researched a lot for the script, which is intricate and quirky. And needless to say, the leading ladies of Selva’s films always have a prominent role — no doubt the movie will help Rakul re-establish a strong image for herself in the Tamil industry.
Meanwhile, Rakul’s much-hyped bilingual SPYder, with Mahesh Babu in AR Murugadoss’ direction, is to hit the marquee soon. Yet another interesting buzz is that though Sonakshi Sinha’s name is making the rounds, the Sarrainodu star is the top contender for Vijay 62 as well, which features Ilayathalapathy in the lead and is directed by AR Murugadoss.
