Bodyguards, bouncers up in arms
Chennai: Kabali is in the news for good as well as wrong reasons. The latest one is about members of the TN Bouncers and Bodyguard Association who are peeved with producer Thanu.
Talking to the media, Hari Babu, president of the association said, “Thanu sir approached us and said he wanted 1,000 bouncers for Kabali during release to work throughout TN theatres. I gave the complete bio data of everyone to him. He made me come every day for 2 months and still didn’t give the work order. I was asking him every time if he needs so many. He said, ‘It is a Rajinikanth sir’s big flick. I definitely need 1,000 bodyguards”.
After a pause he adds, “We got 1,000 persons from various places including boys who were studying in colleges since all came forward with enthusiasm for Thalaivar’s sake. We gave proper training for 15 days. Thanu asked us to finally assemble at Somasundaram grounds on July 20. At the eleventh hour, he called and said 500 bouncers were enough. I was wondering as what to do with the other 500 who had been given training.
On July 22, at 1 am, he tells us that 300 bouncers were enough for the day and to assemble at 10 am. Without giving work order or theatre list, he was asking us to go to various theatres in the state. They were apprehensive whether he would provide transport and food expenses after witnessing his unreliable behaviour. About 250 bouncers had gathered in front of Thanu’s office and were protesting. I only pacified them and took the responsibility of at least getting salary for 5 days’ work instead of his original commitment of 15 days and got them one day’s salary. If Thanu fails to agree to this, all the 1,000 bouncers will go and protest in front of his office”.
