Vijay becomes Thalapathy!

The story has been written by Vijayendra Prasad and the movie has three heroines Samantha, Nithya Menon and Kajal Agarwal.

Finally, the title of Vijay 61, where he dons triple roles — that of a panchayat head, a doctor and a magician is out. The title, Mersal, was revealed on the eve of Vijay’s birthday, by the makers, Thenandal Studios and director Atlee.

The story has been written by Vijayendra Prasad and the movie has three heroines — Samantha, Nithya Menon and Kajal Agarwal.

‘Mersal’ is a colloquial word in Tamil, roughly translating to ‘I was stunned to the core’. There’s even a song in Vikram’s film I, which starts with the line Naan Mersal-aayitten in ARR’s composition!

Vijay has been addressed Thalapathy instead of Ilaiyathalapathy, in the poster. A source reveals that henceforth he will be called ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay. The poster with a backdrop of bulls, suggests that the plot veers towards jallikattu. Some even suggested that it resembled Rajinikanth’s look in Annamalai. The second poster indicates that the actor will be playing a magician too.
