TN Santhosh, a former assistant to AR Murugadoss, made his directorial debut in Tamil with Kanithan, starring Atharvaa, Catherine Tresa and Tarun Arora in the lead roles. The action thriller, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu’s V Creations, received positive response for its making.
A year has passed by since its release and rumour has it that the movie is being remade in Telugu. When DC contacted Thanu, he confirmed the news saying, “We have sold the Telugu remake rights of the movie for a huge sum. I heard that TN Santhosh is the frontrunner in helming the remake as well. As of now, I can confirm that the Telugu remake is happening for sure. The cast and crew of the remake will be announced later by the concerned production house.”
Several reports suggest that Telugu actor Nikhil Siddharth would reprise Atharvaa’s role in the remake. Catherine Tresa might be part of the Telugu version as well.
Kanithan is a story of a reporter (played by Atharvaa), who gets arrested due to a fake degree certificate racket. He decides to track down the culprit who had misused his identity, to expose the crime to the society.
